Dai
DAIDAI and collateral-backed stability
DAI is a stablecoin designed to track the US dollar within the Maker ecosystem. Its structure uses collateral and system rules rather than relying only on a token’s market label. A dollar target does not mean every underlying asset has the same risk.
Borrowing against collateral involves conditions such as required collateral ratios, fees and possible liquidation. The stability of the traded token and the experience of a borrower are connected but different subjects.
Liquidation and reserve composition
If collateral values fall or risk parameters change, positions may need additional backing or be liquidated under protocol rules. Liquidity and the functioning of those mechanisms matter during market stress.
Collateral can include exposures with market, credit and operational risks. Evaluating the system requires understanding its current composition and redemption or exchange routes, not just observing a quiet price chart.
DAI, USDS and savings products
Sky and USDS follow the development of the Maker environment. Base stablecoins and separate yield-bearing products have different terms. USDC and Tether offer other arrangements for dollar-linked value. Small stablecoin deviations can be meaningful even when volatile coins attract more attention.
