USDS
USDSUSDS within Sky
USDS is a dollar-targeting stablecoin in the Sky ecosystem, which follows the development of Maker. Its economic arrangement depends on collateral, risk controls and conversion rules rather than on the ticker alone.
USDS should be distinguished from a savings or yield-bearing representation. Holding the base stablecoin does not automatically give every holder the returns offered by a separate product or participation mechanism.
Collateral and conversion conditions
Different collateral types carry different market, credit and liquidity risks. The ability to maintain a target value also depends on mechanisms that let participants create, repay or exchange obligations under the system’s rules.
Evaluate access to conversion and exit routes alongside the quoted price. A long period near one dollar is not evidence that every form of collateral is risk-free.
Reading the quoted unit
USDS/USDT compares two tokens that target dollar value. Their ratio can differ from the direct USDS/USD relationship. DAI explains the connected earlier stablecoin environment, while USDC and USDe illustrate other stability arrangements.
