ASML and lithography systems

ASML supplies lithography equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing. These systems help create structures on chips, making the company a supplier to manufacturers rather than a designer selling its own processors to end users.

Technology and customer investment

Equipment demand depends on semiconductor producers’ capacity plans and technology transitions. Orders, delivery, installation and customer acceptance occur at different times. An order announcement is therefore not automatically current recognised revenue.

A complex installed system also creates ongoing service and upgrade needs. The balance between new equipment and installed-base activity can influence the financial result.

Investment cycles and trade rules

Export conditions can restrict the markets or facilities to which particular systems are delivered. Evaluate the affected technology and customers rather than assuming every restriction has the same impact. TSMC represents contract manufacturing, Micron memory production and Nvidia a different part of demand for advanced computing.
