XRP
XRPXRP and XRP Ledger
XRP is the native asset of XRP Ledger, a network for transferring and exchanging value. Validators confirm its ledger under consensus rules rather than Bitcoin-style mining. The XRP asset should be distinguished from Ripple, the company developing payment and other services.
Buying XRP does not create an ownership stake in Ripple or a claim on its profits. Using a Ripple product does not necessarily mean using XRP in proportion to that product’s business volume.
Payments and bridge liquidity
XRP pays transaction costs and can serve as a bridge asset between currencies. XRP Ledger also supports issued assets and exchange mechanisms, so not every transaction on the network is simply a payment denominated in XRP.
Technical settlement speed is different from the final cost and rate available to a customer. Spreads, liquidity and participating service providers affect the outcome.
Supply and market interpretation
Circulating supply, release of held balances, exchange access and legal developments can influence price alongside the wider crypto market. Stellar offers another payment-network model, while USDC transfers dollar-linked value through a different issuer-and-reserves structure.
