Sugar No. 11
SB · ICE US · futuresSugar No. 11 and international trade
The ICE Futures U.S. SB contract is a benchmark for raw cane sugar with defined quality and delivery arrangements. It differs from a white-sugar contract and from the final price of a retail bag.
Datisto displays USD per pound. US-cent source quotations are converted consistently through prices, history and OHLC candles. One cent per pound equals 0.01 USD per pound; the contract volume does not change.
Harvests, exports and processing decisions
Weather, acreage, yields and conditions in major exporting regions influence supply. Transport and trade restrictions affect what reaches the international market even when sugar physically remains available at origin.
Where processing allows, the relative economics of sugar and ethanol can influence how cane is used. This creates an energy connection without fixing sugar to the price of WTI crude oil.
Wholesale and consumer prices
Food products contain processing, distribution and other costs. A raw-sugar move may therefore appear later or differently in a retail price. Continuous SB history can also include changes between delivery months. Coffee and cocoa are other agricultural markets with different units, growing cycles and users.
