NEAR Protocol
NEARNEAR as application infrastructure
NEAR Protocol is a blockchain platform for applications. NEAR is its native token, used in network economics including fees and staking. Account design and scalability choices influence how developers and users interact with it.
The experience of using an application is distinct from the economics of holding the network token. An easier interface does not by itself establish how much recurring demand the token receives.
Working across blockchains
Part of NEAR’s development direction involves simplifying interactions across networks. Account tools and cross-chain signing can reduce the number of technical steps a user needs to manage.
A common interface does not change the settlement rules of underlying assets. Bitcoin settlement has different conditions from redeeming a dollar stablecoin. Users still need to understand which network, contract or service holds their funds.
Token supply and price context
Price can react to application adoption, interoperability tools and expectations involving automation or AI. Announced partnerships do not guarantee immediate token consumption. Staking rewards must be evaluated with issuance, fees and the exchange price. Ethereum and Solana provide other application-network models.
