Dogecoin
DOGEDogecoin as a payment cryptocurrency
Dogecoin is a cryptocurrency whose history is closely associated with an online community and internet culture. DOGE can be transferred between wallets and used where a service or recipient accepts it. It is not a share in a company or a claim on a promoter’s business.
Its supply model includes continuing issuance rather than Bitcoin’s fixed maximum. The percentage effect of that new issuance changes as the total supply grows.
Mining and payments
Dogecoin uses proof of work and is connected to merged mining with Litecoin. The relationship allows compatible mining work to contribute to network security. It does not make the two currencies interchangeable.
Practical payment use depends on acceptance, confirmation requirements and fees charged by services. A blockchain transfer time is not necessarily the final crediting time at an exchange.
Attention and market liquidity
News, social discussion and concentrated speculative demand can move DOGE sharply. A price jump does not by itself demonstrate a matching increase in payment adoption. Use volume and longer history to put short bursts in context, and compare Bitcoin for a different supply schedule.
