Valuing your positions with selected stock sources
For actual owned positions, explicitly select a source listing, review its identity and one-share unit, then calculate a report at the chosen cutoff. Your assignment is neither automatic issuer verification nor currency conversion.
1. Open your portfolio and valuation cutoff
Sign in, open your own portfolio and Valuation → Stock sources for valuation. Inspect positions, recorded quantities, accounting units and the portfolio’s exact economic cutoff. The report belongs to that ledger and cutoff, not automatically to today’s price.
The new stock-source assignment is separate from existing source mappings. It changes no recorded trade, quantity, cash or cost. Every position remains in the report even when it lacks an admissible price.
2. Select an exact candidate and review the input
Use Select owned position to choose an actual position, then Load catalogue and choose exact CIK, ticker and original exchange including unknown. Missing or ambiguous matches must not be replaced by a ticker alone or a similar name. A source row ordinal is not durable identity.
Load listing and history prepares the selected native input and, alongside the SEC candidate, review returned symbol, name, venue, instrument type, currency and capture. A matching name or ticker alone does not prove a price-to-CIK issuer join. Assigning it to an owned position is your explicit assertion.
3. Confirm the unit and separately save the assignment
Confirm that this position’s unit corresponds to one share of this listing, then choose Apply assignment; a CFD, multiplier or other unit is not inferred. Preserve exact source currency case. GBp is neither GBP nor USD; the application applies no FX or 100:1 scale conversion.
The private assignment stores only the chosen candidate descriptor and unit. Review the exact position before confirming the save. Prices, histories, source documents and financial report are not the saved configuration; reading or saving an assignment does not itself calculate a report.
4. Explicitly calculate the report and read coverage
After reviewing inputs, choose Calculate stock valuation at the portfolio cutoff. A daily timestamp alone does not establish availability of its Close: a point in the currently reported regular session needs that session’s end at or before cutoff; other points conservatively need 24 hours after their native timestamp. This is an application rule, not a verified historical market-close time. Selection uses the latest such eligible completed point, at most seven days old.
If the latest eligible point has null, an older non-null Close is not substituted. An over-age point, missing source, unclear unit or a later recorded ledger split or reversal changing the basis is a specific coverage gap. An unavailable value is not zero and no position silently disappears.
5. Separate values, cash and cost PnL
An admissible position value uses exact quantity × original Close, without binary financial arithmetic. Subtotals use exact own units. Cash is shown separately; mixed currencies are not combined into an invented base total and nothing is automatically converted. A base total is admissible only with complete coverage and exact agreement of every price/cash unit with the base currency.
Cost PnL is available only with an exactly compatible accounting unit and supported basis. It is not total return, TWR, XIRR or a tax calculation. Missing or incompatible costs receive an explicit unavailable reason instead of an estimated gain.
6. Inspect the original point and export the whole report
Summary values, whole table and point detail belong to one report with the exact owned ledger revision/hash, assignments and originals. Inspect the selected timestamp/Close, source URL/SHA, unit, capture and coverage reason. A ledger, account or source change requires another review.
Whole JSON and readable CSV retain every position, cash balance, subtotal, gap and original source. Pages and detail do not narrow the file. Before download, current owner, session, ledger basis and all same source originals are checked again; an invalid constituent blocks export rather than substituting a newer price. The file includes your private ledger basis, not just market prices.
The file is neither a canonical financial Snapshot nor public redistribution authority. This valuation adds no historical performance, FX, tax results or proof of listing identity.
This is a guide to Datisto. Private features require sign-in and access to your own data. Personal models use your assumptions; availability and permitted use of source data are checked with the particular result. This is not investment advice.
