CONTEXT AND DATA GUIDE
What the size of the crypto market actually measures
A global view answers a different question from an asset leaderboard. It brings together the provider’s market aggregates, their timestamps and the context that a single price cannot show.
Market capitalisation is not cash invested
Global market capitalisation is an aggregate valuation of the assets covered by the provider. A change in it does not measure cash entering or leaving the market. Repricing the available supply can change the aggregate without an equivalent amount passing through trades.
This page does not reconstruct global totals from the selected assets in Datisto’s table. It uses CoinGecko’s separate global observation. To examine the provider’s broader market, do not add up only the rectangles in the map or the first page of a leaderboard.

Dominance is a proportion, not a forecast
Dominance describes an asset’s share of aggregate capitalisation under the provider’s definition. Bitcoin’s share can rise alongside either an increase or a decrease in its price, because the rest of the market matters too. The percentage is neither a cash-flow measure nor an automatic trading signal.
The supplied shares remain separate observations. Missing entries are not filled with zeros, and a partial list is not turned into an exact pie of the whole market. Use the map to examine relative sizes inside Datisto’s loaded selection, which has a narrower scope.
Read volume together with its time window
A trailing 24-hour volume and a current capitalisation measure different things. Volume describes reported trading activity over a moving window, rather than market value or account balances. When a provider reports an unusual figure, its source and exact value remain visible; displaying it is not independent verification.
Check the provider’s update time as well as the capture time. A single current observation does not create a historical series. Open an individual asset for its price history, or use gainers and losers to explore changes within the loaded batch.
