Value your portfolio with explicitly assigned source prices
Confirm the unit relationship between each own position and a particular source, then read exact values, separate currencies and honest coverage in a temporary private report.
1. Confirm what one unit of your position represents
Available choices can include explicit Yahoo equity and ETF listings alongside the existing crypto references. One ETF unit means one share of that exact listing, not one unit of its underlying assets, cash or fund NAV. Yahoo Close includes the provider’s split adjustments; it is not Adj Close or a total-return price, and Datisto makes no additional adjustment. Legacy Yahoo assignments remain the same recorded source and are never silently moved to the new method. One report can select at most eight distinct price sources even when the eligible catalogue offers more.
Start with an existing open position and deliberately select a particular available price source. Confirm that one unit of your recorded quantity represents one unit priced by that source. A familiar ticker or similar asset name does not establish this relationship. For example, a broker balance described as a Bitcoin product is not automatically one Bitcoin, an ordinary share or a particular listed security.
The assignment is your explicit unit confirmation, not a verified broker or instrument match supplied by Datisto. Leave an uncertain position unmapped. Several separately recorded assets may use the same price source when their unit relationships are genuinely the same. This valuation is a separate report held in memory; it creates no trade, cash movement or new ledger entry and does not rewrite historical portfolio calculations.
To reuse assignments later, review and confirm Save assignments to your private portfolio. The saved document contains the unit relationships, not prices or a valuation report. A separate Load saved assignments action prepares your current draft; it does not run a market query. Check the loaded units and sources, then deliberately calculate a new report with current access. Unsaved edits and uncertain save requests remain temporary tab memory and can be lost after a reload.
Saving uses the reviewed document version and ledger identity. If either changed elsewhere, read the current state and review your retained choices again instead of overwriting another version. An unconfirmed response proves neither success nor cancellation: retry the same retained request when available. Clearing saved assignments is another explicit reviewed version; it does not delete transactions or change quantities. Closed positions keep their saved relationships until you deliberately remove them.
2. Keep quantity, price and both currencies visible
For a priced positive position, market value is its exact quantity multiplied by the selected original unit price. A real price of zero produces a real zero value. A missing price produces an unavailable value, never a zero estimate. Original price decimals remain available for inspection; a rounded label should not be treated as the full input to your calculation.
The accounting currency belongs to your recorded position and acquisition basis; the quote currency belongs to the price. They can differ. A USD quote values the quantity in USD even when the position was recorded in EUR. Native unrealized profit or loss is available only with a known basis in that same quote currency. No foreign-exchange conversion, percentage performance or investment return is inferred.
3. Read the source and its time before accepting the price
CoinGecko supplies a provider reference price assembled across its covered markets. Yahoo supplies a particular listing’s original quote.close field. Yahoo Close accounts for splits; Adj Close additionally accounts for dividends or distributions. Datisto applies no further price adjustment. Earlier v1 metadata used an unsupported unadjusted label, which remains recorded with an explicit correction rather than rewriting original inputs. These are different observations. Yahoo’s daily time identifies the source session bucket start, not the exact closing trade. Check the source date, capture time and price identity together; a recently downloaded old close does not become a new market observation.
The application uses maximum ages of one hour for CoinGecko and 96 hours for Yahoo in this selection. Those are application ceilings, not a verified market calendar or a promise of freshness. Weekends and holidays do not create substitute prices. Unknown source freshness remains unknown; passing an age ceiling alone does not establish a current executable market quote.
4. Read partial coverage before reading a total
Known position values are subtotalled by their quote currency. Cash remains a separate balance grouped by its own currency. The complete base-currency total appears only when every position is priced in the portfolio’s base currency and all cash uses that currency. Missing or mixed-currency inputs leave that total unavailable. A known subtotal is useful, but it must never be presented as the complete portfolio value.
Inspect each unavailable row: it can be unmapped, missing, too old or unsuitable for the selected source. The latest missing or rejected point is not replaced by an older numeric price. A relevant corporate action after the price can also prevent valuation: applying a pre-split price to a post-split quantity would mix incompatible units. Resolve that specific gap instead of silently adjusting either input.
5. Inspect and export the same calculation
Keep the calculation identifier and the source-price result identifier together. The report combines the selected position quantities, bases and cash with one accepted price result. Its Value Passport identifies the original source observation; the report’s multiplication is a separate derived value. Changing a mapping or portfolio input requires a corresponding fresh calculation rather than reusing an unrelated price explanation.
Before using a JSON or CSV export, check its calculation, source-price result, coverage and currency labels against the visible report. Reading and downloading require current source permissions; a previous selection does not grant permanent rights. Treat this memory-only report as a private current valuation aid, not a stored accounting event, broker reconciliation, historical performance series or recommendation to trade.
6. Compare the whole valuation with your own targets
In the single-currency valuation, open My target allocation. Enter your own weight for every instrument and cash group, including explicit zero where intended. Weights must sum to exactly 100%; no target or remainder is recommended or filled automatically. Review applies the draft to that same original valuation. Edit targets returns to your retained choices. A different ledger, mapping, currency, fixing or source result requires a corresponding fresh review.
Drift is current weight minus target in percentage points. Gross adjustment is target amount minus current amount in the presentation currency. The calculation uses unrounded exposures, and exact adjustments cancel before independent output rounding. It requires complete coverage, nonnegative exposures and a positive whole value, with at most 50 groups. The known portion of an incomplete portfolio cannot stand in for the whole. Fees, taxes, trade quantities and execution are not included. This model creates no orders or ledger entries.
Target model JSON retains the target choices, complete result and original valuation/source artifact. CSV is a table of the same complete model. Both downloads recheck current access and the original ledger/input identity. Unsaved target drafts and calculated models remain private tab memory; a download is not a server Save or a restorable ledger backup. To keep the own weights, separately review and confirm Save targets. Load saved targets explicitly restores those weights into the draft without running a price query or a model calculation. Recheck an expired original input before using the model again.
7. Choose a broader crypto source explicitly
When an admitted broad CoinGecko capture is available, search its assets by name and exact source coin ID. Select that separately labelled V4 USD reference and confirm your recorded unit relationship. A ticker alone never assigns a price, and existing BTC/ETH or equity assignments do not silently switch source. The available list is the actual captured cohort of up to 250 assets, not every asset ever registered.
A report can combine supported equity sources and crypto assignments while keeping the limit of eight selected price series. The complete crypto capture is retained as evidence; its companion rows are not additional portfolio positions. A genuine zero price remains zero. An absent asset, a null price, a source beyond the one-hour crypto application age limit or a point later than your valuation cutoff stays unavailable. A missing companion percentage alone need not invalidate an otherwise admitted original price. No older cohort supplies a departed member.
Review and Save keep the exact source assignment in your private account, without storing a price or changing the ledger. An unavailable saved assignment remains visible and removable. Whole input JSON and CSV retain the full original source, exact selected prices and any CNB inputs; the private valuation export preserves this same evidence and calculation. Source refresh limits and current permissions still apply.
This is a guide to Datisto. Private features require sign-in and access to your own data. Personal models use your assumptions; availability and permitted use of source data are checked with the particular result. This is not investment advice.
