Finding a stock listing and loading its price and history
Browse the actual SEC catalogue and open a selected stock’s price history. The first visit prepares AAPL and an AAPL/MSFT comparison when both are uniquely available in that catalogue.
1. Load the whole catalogue and apply a selection
The catalogue loads on its first visible opening; its capture date appears beside the table. Search ticker, name or CIK; filter the exact original exchange label, including unknown exchange. Sort by original order, name, ticker or exchange and choose a direction. Apply selection confirms the conditions; pages of 25, 50 or 100 rows do not reduce the source coverage.
This is the whole particular SEC list, not every stock worldwide or a guarantee of current trading. Row counts can change between captures. Multiple tickers with the same CIK remain separate, including different share classes. Loading, searching and pagination do not request prices for thousands of securities.
2. Open an exact listing
Selecting a ticker automatically reads its bounded Yahoo daily history and internally validates the exact catalogue row and source identity. The ticker is not rewritten, punctuation is not guessed, and a similar company name is not substituted. Only an exact row from the admitted catalogue may select the source.
To change the range, choose Source history range: 1mo, 3mo, 6mo, 1y or 5y, with daily interval 1d. The response supplies the quote and original history for that source range. Inspect the actual returned start and point count; five years are not guaranteed for every listing. Changing the source range reads that range; the result always identifies the period actually returned. An unavailable candidate is not priced at zero and is not replaced by another symbol.
3. Review native identity and currency
Alongside the SEC candidate, review Yahoo’s returned symbol, own name, venue, instrument type and currency. The SEC candidate and native listing are separate source records: matching a ticker or name alone does not prove that the price belongs to that exact CIK issuer. Do not automatically merge share classes or venue listings.
After internal identity, currency and range checks, the public result appears directly without a second quote-approval step. Currency and letter case remain exactly as reported: USD, GBP, GBp or GBX are not automatically relabelled or converted. No default currency is substituted for the price unit. Missing identity or units prevent an unverified price being presented as admitted.
4. Distinguish the quote, Close and Adj Close
The regularMarketPrice quote has its own timestamp. It is not automatically live or executable, and that timestamp is not the response download time. Previous Close and chartPreviousClose remain separately labelled source fields; the application does not invent a daily change from their names. Also inspect the venue, timezone and reported regular session.
Daily Open, High, Low and Close are original provider values; Adj Close is a separately reported series, not an automatic replacement for Close. These fields do not establish our own corporate-action adjustment, reinvested dividends or total return after taxes and fees. Volume is its own reported quantity, not a count of people or dollar trading value.
5. Apply a local time window
Within the captured input, enter From and Through inclusive; both dates are included by the UTC date of the original timestamp. Apply time window creates the new applied view. Whole captured period removes the local restriction. Window changes download nothing and do not change the history range requested from the provider.
The table distinguishes All original points, In window and excluded points. Missing trading days are not filled. The local filter changes neither the original quote nor its own timestamp; whole JSON/CSV still retain every captured point, including those outside the window.
6. Inspect the chart, whole history and a point
Price and volume charts, the complete paginated table and point detail use the same applied input. Detail preserves original order, exact OHLCV and separate Adj Close. Zero, null and missing information are not interchangeable; source gaps are not filled and weekends are not invented as new points.
Inspect whether a row belongs to a completed or current session according to the reported start/end and capture. A daily timestamp is the original source time of a daily point, not a confirmed closing trade time; a current point can fall inside the regular session. Original days and counts do not certify a complete expected trading calendar.
7. Check source evidence and export the whole original
Evidence separates the SEC catalogue from the selected Yahoo chart. Inspect URL, SHA-256, request start, completed capture and available HTTP Date. Cache describes how long the application may reuse a response, not how current the market price is. A failed read preserves the previous dated view; another load is explicit.
This is a guide to Datisto. Private features require sign-in and access to your own data. Personal models use your assumptions; availability and permitted use of source data are checked with the particular result. This is not investment advice.
