How to read Ethereum network data
Separate block data, selected validators and global indicators. Each value retains its own context and clock.
1. Two layers, two sources
The execution source supplies finalized blocks. The consensus source supplies a finalized Beacon header and selected validator state pinned to its state root. Each layer has its own capture, original proofs and context. They do not form an automatically synchronized global snapshot.
Chain ID and known mainnet genesis identities are checked. Finalized is a provider-reported property; this view does not synchronize or validate a complete node. Unavailability in one layer does not overwrite the other layer with zeros.
2. What window burn means
Choose six or twelve blocks. The original execution base fee in wei per gas is multiplied by that block’s actual gas used. The sum is burn within this contiguous selected batch; chart, table and detail use the same original blocks.
This calculation excludes blob burn, priority fees, MEV and newly issued ETH. It establishes neither lifetime burn, net issuance nor a validator’s total income. Gas used, gas limit, wei, Gwei and ETH are distinct units; their conversion does not use a dollar price of ETH.
3. Selected validators are not global staking
Enter at most four distinct indices. The source may return a different order and omit an unknown index, so exact identity is matched and missing output remains a gap. Balance and effective balance are separate original quantities in Gwei.
A sum covers only the returned selection. It does not multiply an assumed 32 ETH per validator and is not global locked ETH, total validator count or future yield. Status, slashed flag and activation or exit epochs remain properties of that particular validator.
4. Aggregates and missing values
ETH supply, total issuance, global staking, queues and yield require their own suitable source and methodology. When connected inputs do not establish a value, it remains unknown or unconnected. Zero appears only when the source actually establishes zero.
When a metric is missing, other evidenced metrics keep their own units and clocks. A blank is not zero, and an unavailable source is not replaced by an invented network.
5. Applied result and complete export
Window or index edits start as a draft. Apply them explicitly; until then, charts, tables, details and exports retain the previous applied query and original clocks. A late old response must not replace the current request.
Complete JSON and CSV belong to the same manifest and include both original contexts, every input block and returned or missing indices. Presentation page and selected detail do not shorten a complete export. Serving a response again does not refresh previously captured data.
This is a guide to Datisto. Private features require sign-in and access to your own data. Personal models use your assumptions; availability and permitted use of source data are checked with the particular result. This is not investment advice.
