Read the crypto market-cap map
Use area for relative market cap, colour for a defined price change and the shared detail to inspect the original source.
1. Read area and colour separately
Last-known batch means the short freshness interval has elapsed. A transient source failure may retain a dated capture; an explicit source shutdown or withdrawn access conceals it. Refresh is explicit. Selection and export belong to the captured batch, not a historically reconstructed ranking for today.
A rectangle’s area follows its positive USD market capitalization within the current filtered batch. Colour follows the source price change for the chosen 1-hour, 24-hour, 7-day or 30-day period. A large rectangle is not necessarily a large percentage move. The legend identifies direction and the five-percent colour threshold.
2. Keep the loaded universe explicit
The map uses the existing CoinGecko batch of up to250 assets. Search changes the selection and therefore relative tile sizes. This is not global dominance or a historical membership reconstruction. A missing or zero market cap has no weighted area, but the asset remains in the source table and complete export.
3. Open a tile without losing the selection
Click a rectangle or use its keyboard focus to open the shared quick preview. Arrow controls move through the filtered order; closing returns to the map. Tiny rectangles may be smaller than a pixel, so every asset is also available through a table link and quick-preview button. A full-detail link opens the original asset screen.
4. Distinguish missing change, rounding and time
Zero and an unavailable change use the neutral colour, while the label distinguishes0% from a dash. Display coordinates and formatted amounts are approximate; original decimal strings remain in labels and exports. Each asset has its own provider update time. Batch capture time does not make every quote simultaneous or executable.
5. Retain the complete filtered data
The table, map and CSV/JSON use the same selection and source batch. Both exports include all selected rows, including assets with no map area, original values, query conditions and source fingerprint. Changing a colour period does not calculate a new historical return. The source stablecoin filter joins exact CoinGecko IDs only; its independent catalogue and source flags retain their own capture time and hash in exports. No match means classification is unestablished, rather than proof that an asset is not a stablecoin. Local watch/compare controls follow the existing preview semantics; an account analysis is not silently saved.
This is a guide to Datisto. Private features require sign-in and access to your own data. Personal models use your assumptions; availability and permitted use of source data are checked with the particular result. This is not investment advice.
