Read one company’s original annual facts together
Open revenue, net income and assets in one company sheet. Keep each amount’s accounting interval and filing, inspect its source and retain the whole original result.
1. Open a company annual sheet
The prepared Apple annual sheet loads automatically on first opening; select Microsoft and open its sheet to change issuer. The selection uses that company’s three named original SEC sources in the retained reporting window. A later company choice is a draft until you apply it; the visible result continues to identify its originally applied company. A missing source cannot be replaced by a similarly named share-price series.
The sheet groups original facts for convenient reading. It performs no valuation or ratio calculation. Revenue, net income and assets remain three different accounting measures in original reported USD, rather than a new combined metric or a conversion to your portfolio currency.
2. Read the complete interval beside the amount
Each row is labelled by an actual reporting-end date from the inputs. Revenue and net income describe a duration with a start and an end. Assets describe a balance at one instant. An assets figure is therefore not an annual flow, and the end date alone does not tell you how long a revenue period lasted. Read each cell’s own interval before comparing.
Choose one of the actual reporting-end dates to bring that group’s three original facts into the summary cards, or open a history row there. Older, newer and latest move only between dates present in this result. This changes the view, rather than executing another financial query. Renewing the same result keeps the choice; opening a different result starts from its own latest group. Export and Snapshot still retain every original input, and the selected card period is not a separately saved Snapshot setting.
The grouping does not turn fiscal periods into calendar years or reconstruct a complete statement. Apple and Microsoft can close their years on different days. The source filing’s fiscal-year field can describe a later filing that includes an older comparative amount. Neither that field nor a year on an axis replaces the original accounting dates.
3. Keep every filing and source clock attached
Open an original amount for its Value Passport. Check the exact amount, USD unit, period, company CIK, US-GAAP concept, accession, filing form and filed day. Different cells grouped under one end date can legitimately come from different filings. Their placement beside each other does not certify a shared filing or make them a suitable pair for an unimplemented calculation.
A date-only filed day does not establish the exact time of publication. The time Datisto captured a source and the time this query ran are separate clocks. Latest uses eligible stored revisions, which can include comparative facts captured in a later filing; this is not a history of what investors first knew. Observed-by-Datisto instead uses the explicit platform knowledge cutoff.
4. Distinguish zero, missing and an ambiguous cell
A reported zero is an amount. Missing source data, an absent counterpart and a quality-withheld amount remain unavailable, with their own explanations. An absent counterpart has no invented observation or Passport. The sheet does not carry an older amount into a newer end date or add a year merely to make the table look complete.
If the admitted original inputs contain more than one candidate for the same measure and end date, the cell must expose that ambiguity rather than select one by display order. Earlier revisions are not additional current alternatives merely because they remain in storage. Inspect the original candidates and their contexts before drawing a conclusion.
5. Download the whole result and retain an original
CSV contains all original rows with their accounting-context columns; JSON retains the typed result, selected inputs, source evidence and grouping document. Presentation or paging does not reduce that full cohort. Each download verifies current access again. The file’s original source clocks remain distinct from the later access-verification time.
This is a guide to Datisto. Private features require sign-in and access to your own data. Personal models use your assumptions; availability and permitted use of source data are checked with the particular result. This is not investment advice.
