Keep a private investment journal
Record your decisions and assumptions, inspect saved versions and explicitly return to unfinished words in this browser tab.
1. Separate your reasoning from the financial ledger
Choose Decision, Review, Note or Lesson and mark the entry Open, Reviewed or Archived. These describe your own record; Reviewed is not editorial approval and Archived does not delete it. Write a title and plain text. A journal entry does not create a trade, deposit or financial-ledger event.
Optional entry-price bounds, target price and currency, invalidation conditions, desired portfolio weight, horizon date and confidence are your assumptions. They are not observed market prices, actual portfolio weights, recommendations or calibrated probabilities. A blank optional field is unspecified, rather than zero. Use a decimal point for numbers; choose a currency when entering a price.
2. Attach only your verified current context
You can leave an entry unbound or choose a portfolio belonging to your current account. An instrument must be an exact identifier already recorded in that portfolio’s financial ledger. A link from the portfolio offers context; explicitly apply the verified context instead of assuming that opening the link has filled or saved anything.
A recorded instrument identifier is not a verified ticker or a data licence. Reading a current entry or an older version rechecks its own context. An unavailable portfolio or instrument is not replaced with a plausible label or another account’s data. Your own event date and time are distinct from the application’s original storage clocks.
3. Review the exact words before saving a revision
Review draft checks the complete fields and shows the exact content and expected revision. Back to edit preserves your words; it performs no save. Confirm private save is a separate action for the displayed account and session. Each accepted save creates a new immutable version of the same entry. The saved-version history keeps the earlier words and storage times.
If a newer revision exists, read it and explicitly review your retained words against the current revision. The application does not silently overwrite it. If the save outcome is unconfirmed, the original command remains separate from a draft; verify the same account and explicitly retry the original request. Editing words does not change that retained request.
4. Resume or discard a same-tab draft explicitly
Unfinished raw text can remain in this tab while you navigate within the application. The shared temporary memory holds at most eight drafts in total, with a 30-minute expiry from the latest remembered edit. Only your freshly verified account’s drafts are shown. This is not persistent storage: a reload, closing the tab or expiry can lose the draft. There is no transfer of drafts between accounts.
Use Resume to restore the original entry identity, raw words and base revision, including incomplete number or date text. Validation waits for Review; resuming does not save or silently rebase the draft to a newer revision. Discard removes only the exact own temporary draft, not a saved entry or an unconfirmed save command. Review, a running save or a retained pending command blocks conflicting draft actions. Context offered by a route does not replace resumed context automatically.
5. Know what your current JSON download contains
Download current own JSON rechecks the current account and exports the current saved contents available to that account. Unfinished drafts and the full version history are not that export. Keep the original file private if it contains your reasoning or assumptions. A download is not confirmation that an unfinished save succeeded.
The separate journal JSON import reviews current contents and lets you choose Skip, Copy as new or append to the current revision. It does not restore the complete historical audit trail. Reminders and goals have their own separate screens and explicit confirmations; opening a journal entry does not create them. For a selected saved goal, separately review and confirm one own saved annual plan in the same currency, or remove that association. This changes neither goal words nor manual state and measures no progress. An unavailable plan stays neutral without its private metadata; the goal remains readable. Temporary drafts still require Review and confirmed private Save to become saved notes. Public sharing and a tested full-history restoration backup are not provided by this workflow.
6. Record a separate review of a decision
Open a currently verified saved Decision and choose Review this decision. Enter your own new title, review date, conclusion, reasons and evidence, any changes, and your next action. An optional next review date cannot precede the review date. Your conclusion is your own assessment, not an automatically verified market outcome.
Preview new review shows the entire generated plain text. It cites the original entry ID, revision and title. This is a text reference, not a live association, a history of source values or a reminder. No prices, original assumptions or investment horizon are copied. The next review date remains text; a day-only review date does not invent a midnight event timestamp.
Adopt as a separate draft creates a new local entry identity with kind Review, status Open and base revision zero. Only currently admitted private portfolio and instrument references are carried over. Your original decision, its status and financial ledger remain unchanged. Other unfinished words and drafts are preserved; if temporary draft capacity cannot accommodate adoption, your review fields remain and adoption is refused. Continue through the journal’s usual Review draft and separate Confirm private save; adoption itself saves nothing to the account.
If current verification is temporarily unavailable or the decision changes, your form is retained but adoption is blocked. To use a newer source revision, explicitly adopt that currently verified revision as the source while retaining your own fields, then inspect the full preview again. The form exists only in this page’s memory. After adoption, the ordinary same-tab draft limit of eight drafts and 30-minute expiry applies; reloading or closing the tab is not durable saving.
This is a guide to Datisto. Private features require sign-in and access to your own data. Personal models use your assumptions; availability and permitted use of source data are checked with the particular result. This is not investment advice.
