Compare three personal total returns before a separate asset fee. You supply contributions, their growth and inflation; the result distinguishes nominal value from modeled purchasing power at the starting price level.
Preparing the calculator…
The first contribution is used directly; from year two it grows at your supplied rate. A start contribution is added in full before the annual return. An end contribution is added only after return and fee. Nominal return is calculated from the exposed modeled balance and may be negative.
The separate annual asset fee is based on balance after return, before any end contribution. Final nominal value = initial capital + nominal contributions + nominal returns − fees. Contributions do not become returns. This is our explicit model convention, not a verified broker tariff.
The inflation index is (1 + your inflation/100) raised to the scenario years since model start. Purchasing power at starting prices = final nominal value / index. Nominal contributions are not subtracted from real value as a supposed profit. Results are neither measured purchasing power, a historical simulation, success probability nor guaranteed future returns. Taxes and FX are outside this model.
Personal compounding input context · Investor.govDecimal strings with 120-digit working precision. Inputs at most 24 integer and 18 fractional digits, at most 100 relative scenario years. Growth, return, inflation and percentage fees use working precision; admitted finite cashflows are added while preserving their decimal parts. An unsupported range rejects the whole result without replacing it by an estimate.
